Hi,
We concur with Steve. We also have many clients using Adagio Job Cost for general contacting (commercial) and domestic construction, Job Shop manufacturing, and landscaping maintenance. Job Cost can really work well but the proper configuration scares many off from a really good solution, unfortunately.
There are multiple ways to configure and we have seen numerous bad configurations, so make sure that your consultant knows how to configure properly. And don't be scared off by comments that it doesn't work, because in responding to sites that say it doesn't work, it's almost always a configuration issue.
The reports have room for improvement, the estimating simply records estimate values instead of creating an estimate document, and change order control has more room for improvements, but the data stored in the data base, is readily accessible and very useful for Gridview and Crystal Reports.
You might also consider our Link2JobCost Add-On as an efficient solution to manage your WIP, which is usually an issue in most Job Cost sites.
If you go with Job Cost, you must consider Adagio Purchase Orders, Gridview and possibly Crystal reports for Adagio. If you don't get PO's and GV, then you will feel shortchanged with your solution. It's that important.
Best,
Brian
