When I started my position a few years ago (Controller for smallish non-profit) I had no Adagio experience but I had experience with some batch accounting using Great Plains, though very little. My new boss did not know accounting much less software and this was a new accounting program for them. I taught myself in no time and was able to implement other modules that were not in use. I would suggest based on the experience with my clerical staff that this is an aptitude thing. There is no way that my clerks would have been able to run the software without training. So, you need to find someone who is keen with all types of software and batch accounting. Playing in the sample data makes hands-on learning easy.
