I know what you mean and think it would be a good addition to the SmartFinder especially since, in theory, it would be a faster search than "Contains".

However, you have another option. The "Find" button will allow search by Code, Name and Phone number. The "Name" option works starting with the leading characters. The "Find" button is available on the Vendor list screen and on transaction entry screens (invoice, payment, adjustment).
