For the benefit of others reading this, the solution of this question turned out to be report links. The report in question was based on Order Entry details, and was linked to the IC Quantity by Location file. Using the old 6.x IC table, you only had to link these files by the Item Number field. With the new structure of IC 6.5A (and of course the table with it), the linking field needs to be Item number/Location code.
Because Item/Location is not the default choice, the values on the report were in many cases incorrect.
