It's not true that the scan feature didn't improve. It improved tremendously. You can now import a scan list from an Excel file.

If you can create an Excel file with two columns - the record type (C for customer, P for prospect) and the customer/prospect number, you can import it in.

Now here's the great part. You can use GridView to create such a list, using almost any imaginable criteria. If you don't have GridView, even plain old F6 (smart-finder) can do the trick, although not with as much flexibility.
