Can we confirm the Adagio program you are using - Adagio Payables or Adagio Checks - and the version? This can be found from the Help menu and pick About. At the top will be the program name, version and 6-digit release date.

Are you printing checks to a laser or a dot-matrix printer?
What printer driver are you using?

If you are printing checks with MICR encoding to an HP laser printer driver using PCL6 emulation, try getting a different driver that uses PCL5e emulation instead.

Do other check specifications have this same issue or just the one you typically use?

Does print preview show one page, but when you print the check for real it creates two pages? This could be an issue in the print job being created. Can this behaviour be replicated on a different printer?

This is not something we are aware of.
