It sounds to me like the trial balance report didn't get updated by the hotfix, probably because of a date issue. Date issues arise when the software is installed at the server itself instead of from a workstation logged onto the server. They don't appear until the next version gets installed.

Your best bet is to do just what you did. Softrak may have a better workaround, but your method definitely works and is not too terrible.
