Dear Rhoda
It is hard to completely understand the information that you have posted, but it sounds like you have a new computer which is now using W2K pro instead of Win98. It also sounds like you could be running on a "Peer to Peer" network, rather than the conventional 'Dedicated Server/client' environment. This in itself is not a problem. How the programs and data have been reinstalled and/or relocated is likely the problem.
1. If the system (Win98 PC)that was replaced was the 'server', and if the programs were originally installed on this 'server', then you must actually install the programs onto the new machine using the proper install procedures. The order in which you MUST re-install the programs (where QR/QRWIN is involved) is:
- First, install the WSM and all ACCPAC Plus core modules (this includes GL, AR, AP, IC, OE etc.)
- Next, install QRWIN
- Finally, install any 3rd Party products that are used in your QRWIN reports (this includes QIW)
- (If you use Quik History, it would get installed LAST, after all other ACCPAC Plus and QR/QRWIN software.)
If this is not how you did this, then you will have to redo it properly.
2. Once you are sure that the above process has been completed as described above, the next thing you can do is to open QRWIN and create a brand new 'test' report (as the path to ACCPAC may have become affected and may need to be reset). Here's what to do after you open QRWIN:
a) Click on File - New.
b) Select 'Custom Report' from the bottom section of the list that comes up.
c) You will now be at the 'Choose Database File' screen. (You need to locate and select the ACCPAC.SSI file. This file resides in the QRW directory.) From the bottom right of this window, select the drive where QRWIN was installed to.
d) From the 'Directories' scroll box directly above this, find and select the QRW program directory.
e) From the left side of this window, under the 'List files of type' scrollbox, select 'All files', then directly above this, find and select the ACCPAC.SSI filename.
f) Click OK to accept this.
g) You should now be at the 'Select program for report' window. Make sure the option 'Installed programs only' is UNchecked.
h) Click on 'Edit Company' to go to the 'Company Info' screen.
i) From the buttons on the right, click 'New'. You should now be on the Edit Company screen.
j) Click 'Browse' to point QRWIN to where the ACCPAC data resides. Select the drive & directory, then choose the ARGLOB.xxx file, where 'xxx' represents your 3-char datafile extension.
k) Click OK. You should now be taken back to the 'Edit Company' screen, where your Company's information should be displayed for the Name, Data Extension and Data path. Make sure this information is all correct, then click OK.
l) You should now be at the 'Company Info' screen again, where your company's information should be displayed. Again, ensure that the 'ACCPAC Programs' drive, ACCPAC Data and Company, Extension & Data Path information displayed is as it should be, then click OK to accept these values.
m) You should now be back at the 'Select Program for Report' screen. From the 'Program' scrollbox, select "Acc. Rec. 6.1A/5A" for the program, then click OK.
n) At the 'Select Tables' screen, select the 'Customer Information' table, and click OK.
o) At the 'Insert Database Field', select a couple of fields, then click ok and put them in the detail area of your report.
p) Click Done.
q) Click Preview, to ensure you get data.
If you got the desired results, then now try opening one of your reports. You may have to do a 'Verify Database' on each report, then save it to make sure it saves the new settings. Information on this can be found in your QRWIN manual, page 3-71. Follow the steps to complete the process.
