Dear cbdobbin
This is strange, as normally you would not be able to print anything or you would get a specific type of error message when you go to print the checks.
Can you see the check when you do a print/preview instead of actually printing to the printer? If so, at least this part of it is working ok. Let's check the actual printer destination that is defined in Checks, and in the specification file itself:
1. In Checks, select File, Options. Is the 'Check Printer' set to the correct printer? If it is set to 'Default', then checks will get sent to the printer that is set as your 'default' printer in Windows, rather than to a specific printer. Whatever printer is setup here, will be the one that checks will automatically get printed to unless you change it in the print screen.
2. In Check Designer, open the check specification that you are having problems printing. Go to File, Printer Setup. The printer defined here should be the one that Windows is currently using as the default. Is this the correct printer?
3. Do you have the correct specification defined in the Bank area? To check this, select Edit, Banks from the main Adagio Checks toolbar menu. Edit the Bank that you are processing checks for, and ensure that the check specification you want is selected here. If you make any changes, click OK to accept them.
4. Can you print a check from sample data? Checks sample data is located in the Softrak\QCWIN\Samdata folder. Open Checks and point to this directory, then try printing a check. If you can print a check ok from here, then it could be the actual specification in your dataset that is a problem.
5. Can another PC print the check ok?
If everything looks ok in these areas, then you can try re-installing Checks. If Checks is installed on a Server, then you may need the proper network rights before reinstalling it. If it is installed on the hard drive of your PC, this may not be necessary unless you are using Windows NT or 2000.
Hope this helps!
