Is there a way to change the default setting for the “Customer” and “Item” buttons in OE 8.1F? (the buttons that run along the top of the main window) Right now theyopen item maintenance or customer maintenance, and if someone double-clicks one, it defaults to Edit. Can it default to view? (Or can the window that opens up default to an Inquiry, so there isn’t an option to edit?) I don' want to eliminate the ability to edit, but would prefer if the default settings were to view not to edit.

Sorry, but default double-click behavior is not customizable, nor is the Toolbar for commonly used functions. Opening Edit Customers will always default to the Edit button, and clicking the Customer toolbar button will always open Edit Customers if security access is granted.

You could open Inquiries / Display Customers, which only has a View button and is the default for double-click. Or Inquiries / Display Items to view items.

To make the Customer and Item toolbar buttons load the respective Inquiry functions rather than the Maintenance functions, this is only possible by using security to prevent access to the Edit screens. From your comments, this wasn't a desirable setup.
