We need to find out which specific fields are used to calculate certain fields in Adagio. These include Actual Cost in Adagio Inventory as well as Recent Cost. We have been able to find the definition of these in the help menu.

We are looking at the Actual Cost for units sold year to date on an item, and they are higher than the recent cost x number of units sold, we are trying to determine the source of the variation. Knowing how these fields are calculated will help with this.

Thank you

Do you use FIFO or LIFO costing for any of your items?

Try this:

Select Inquiries / Transaction History

Select only "Shipments"

select an appropriate date range

Double-click on the column header and scroll down to add "Sale Amt" to the grid.

Click Load.

You can export this to Excel for analysis. Simple formulae will give you cost per item and revenue per item.

Note: quantities will show as negative numbers since each "shipment/sale" decreases the stock on hand.

Costs will be negative since they are a credit to the inventory asset account.

Thanks, we use FIFO costing.

Recent cost is updated when items are received into Inventory (or a Purchase Order is raised for an item). It is an information field only and is only used in a calculation if items are sold that are not in stock (inventory goes negative).

Inventory only keeps the total cost and total quantity on file and uses that to calculate unit costs when items are shipped. There are 5 FIFO buckets. If you receive 6 separate receipts, the final receipt will be averaged into the last bucket.

Hi Kristen

Life would be much simpler if you simply switched from FIFO to moving average. The only scenario where there will be a significant effect on your cost of goods sold in the Ledger is if you purchase the same item multiple times at widely varying costs and hold the item in stock for long periods of time.
