Does the field "units sold period 1" in inventory represent January of current year and period 2 for February and so on? I tried to compare month to month data on items sold during this year up to March but the total units sold doesn't seem to match what shows in the transactions history.

The Inventory item historical statistics are only valid by month if Month End procedures are run consistantly and the end of each month. The associated date ranges are stored in the Company Profile and the 'Sales History' tab, based on the frequency of performing Month End.

If you visit this Sales History tab, that will describe the date ranges that are connected to period 1, 2, etc. The IC Sales History periods are in reverse order, so period 1 is all the transactions since Month End has been run (ie Current Period), period 2 is the segment of time between your most recent 2 months ends, and so forth. Because they are in reverse order, they will never synch to the GL fiscal periods nor the calendar.
