Ran into a strange problem today. As I was entering an order I had to stop because I couldn't read the quantities of two items on the sheets we use internally. I entered the two items, left the quantity at zero, then saved the order.

When I came back to fix the two items, OE had locked them - it wouldn't allow me to edit them. I then tried to delete them but I received an error saying I could not change an invoiced item. The order hadn't been invoiced and it didn't show up in any of the invoiced lists (all filters off).

I then tried to edit the other items on the order - no problem. I then tried to invoice the order. Again, no problem although the two zero quantity items were missing but I think I have that option turned on.

No big deal - I'll just have to invoice the two missing items separately but I would like to know if it will happen again as we often have to check items with shipping ( and don't tell me to tell people to write neater - that would be like flogging a dead horse).

I uploaded a file earlier today if you want t take a look at it. I also have a back-up of the OE data before I invoiced the order.

Thanks

After talking with Mike earlier and testing tonight, the 2 items were locked because the "Ordered", "Shipped" and "Backorders" quantities were all zero. The Order was posted that way pending more information. When the Order was subsequently edited, the items were read-only and considered "invoiced". That seems like an unintended feature! smile

Hi Bruce,

It's always been that way. If you make the ordered quantity 1 and put the order on hold, you can check the qty you need.

Still seems like odd behaviour but that's fine, as long as I know the work around.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Another way would be to Backorder the unknown quantity, that way the line will not be considered complete.
