Since the latest upgrade, I have noticed that when I am posting directly to the G/L, after each debit entry, the program goes directly to the credit side of the entry. At that point, I have to delete the amount in the credit side and use my mouse to go back to the debit side to continue my entry. Sometimes I have to do this 10 times for 1 journal entry. Is there some way I can turn off the option of having the program assume that after each debit there will be a credit?

Turn off the "Auto balance entry" option.

However, journal entries are typically made up of a single debit and a bunch of credits, or a single credit and a bunch of debits. It will speed your data entry if you enter the single side of the transaction first, and let the program automatically place you in the opposing side for the balancing entries.

The operation of these options is described in the Help text (press F1 and click on the fields).

Tab advances to next field
Shift-Tab backs up to previous field
If you study the Adagio shortcut key sequences ( many are Windows standards ) you seldom need to use the mouse. See this link for a useful information:

When I try shift/tab, it takes me back to the account number, not to the debit column where I want to be. When I tab after that, it goes directly to the credit side, even if I delete the credit amount first. At this point, I use the mouse to place the cursor on the debit column.

If you have 'Auto-Balance' entry enabled, then the tab sequence goes from the Account (to the dept if used) to the auto-filled debit/credit, to the other amount (credit/debit), then to the OK button.

So in this unique case, pressing the Tab key will take you to the other amount field, be it the debit or the credit. You won't have to guess when to use Shift-tab and when to use Tab in going from the Debit to Credit or vice versa.

If you don't use 'auto-balance entry' then the tab sequence will be the standard Acct, Dept, Debit, Credit, OK.
