Printing Old Picking Slips

Hi All,
We are having a problem printing old picking slips off of orders that have more than one shipment off of them.
We have designed the picking slip number so that it always starts with the order number, and is followed by "-#", where # is the release from that order. For example, the first shipment from order 123456 would have a picking slip number of 123456-0, and the third would be 123456-2 etc.
The problem happens when we want to print a picking slip that wasn't the most recent one. When we type in the Invoice number that we want to print the picking slip for (because each invoice is unique and has it's own picking slip) all the correct info appears except for the picking slip number. All the correct parts and quantities will be there, but the picking slip # will always be the most recent one.
Is there any way to specify exactly which picking slip # should be displayed? I suspect this is a template design issue, but need some direction.
Thanks!

How about placing the picking slip number in an optional field and printing it from there?

Hi Andrew,
I suspect what is happening right now then is that Adagio is just taking the order number tied to that invoice, and just adding a -# at the end from the latest release.
How do I tell Adagio to put the picking slip number in that optional field, and also to use the order number - release number format(123456-0)we are using?
After that is done, I assume it is as simply as telling the template to print the correct field?
Thanks for all your help with everything Andrew!

You can't tell Adagio - you have to tell your Order Entry people. This "order #-release 3" is a process that you have set up to handle your circumstances, it's not part of the Adaigo OrderEntry "routine".
Once you've put the number in the optional field, you just need a specification to print it out.
BTW - OrderEntry V8.1B, due out in a week or so, will allow you to edit this information after an invoice is posted.

Hi Andrew,
I checked out the template, and it looks like what is generating our packing slip number is a combination of E1, the order number; and E14, the order release number. So I guess the problem is that the E14 specification always refers to the most recent release. Is there anyway, or any specification, to tell the template to pull the order release that relates to the invoice?
Thanks!

If you print the document from the invoice, rather than from the order, then the release number will be correct.

Hi Andrew,
I thought I had this problem licked, but it appears I do not.
When I print the picking slip fromt the invoice, it will still come up with a release number 1 greater than that on the picking slip.
Any ideas?
Alternatively, is there a way to put the picking slip number (E1+E14) in the optional fields tab of the invoice?
Thanks!

Sorry, no.
You have to get your data entry people to populate the optional fields, or teach people that the release number printed on the picking slip is ALWAYS one greater than the picking slip.

Hi All,
Is there any other specification you can think of that would change with each shipment that I could use instead of E14 - Order release #?
Or, is it possible to put a formula in the order designer: something like "=E14 -1"?
Thanks!
