We've recently added Adagio at our company, attempting to replace Accpac Plus. One major problem we are having is in regards to speed. Particularly with Sales Analysis Inquiries. AccPac Plus inquiries complete in seconds, if not instantly. Here we are talking minutes or more. Is there a way to get the results we are used to in Accpac?

Hi Tom

Copy the data to your local disk, launch SalesAnalysis pointing at the C Drive data, and then run the inquiries. It will be at least 10 times faster.

Also, if you pick a small range of dates, or a small range of another field that is indexed, the report generates quickly. It's trial and error on that one.

Hi Steve,
Even on the C: drive, limiting by one customer and one item number the speed still does not get close to what Accpac generated.

And it never will. I do not understand why MS Windoze puts such an overhead load on the system, but it does. My only suggesion is to watch the local disk drive light when doing this from the network drive. If it seems to be flashing madly, it means the Windows ran out of RAM and is using the local disk. In this case, adding RAM should help.

Other than that, there is litt;e we can do unless a Linux version of the software is released

The Online Inquiry function in Adagio SalesAnalysis contains a lot more functionality than what the DOS version of Sales Analysis did - it is also taking the place of creating customized reports. Part of the inquiry process is building a work file to select and summarize records. As others have reported, it will not ever be as fast as the DOS function, not only because it is in Windows but because it is doing more.

If there is a requirement to get able to search through your SalesAnalysis transactions to locate specific records with speed as the main criteria, then Adagio GridView is the best solution. As you have this program already, getting some inquiries designed that work with SalesAnalysis would be the next step. And if even this isn't fast enough, then GridView Server may be an important addition (as long as you are using a Windows server, as opposed to another server type such as Novell).
