Good morning,

I found it very easy to export data (like jobs and timecards) from Adagio JobCost in a .csv format (for example).

Is-it feasible to automatize this operation ? Like once a week, export last jobs data and save it into that folder ?

The point of this is because we have another system that we would like to use and takes .csv file as input (and it does the adequate filtering and processing).

Thanks in advance for your response,
Regards.

Alex

Yes.

You can use either GridView or the ODBC connection to automate (and schedule) this task. Bona fide software developers wishing to integrate a commercial product with Adagio can redistribute the ODBC connection without royalty if they are members of our Developer Program.

Thank you very much for such a fast answer.
I've got gridView as well so I'll try. Is the functionally described located under the export feature ?

A GridView Workspace can be automatically exported using command line parameters that launch GridView. See the "Command line parameters" section in the GridView F1-Help. You may find File | Shortcuts | Create an easy way to create the necessary shortcut. Once you have the correct shortcut built, this can be scheduled using MS Scheduler as a Scheduled task.

GridView can also be driven as an automation (COM) object from VBS. Details are in a document in the \Softrak\GVWIN Folder in a file GV_ComDoc.zip.

As well as creating a CSV, GridView is capable of writing a Workspace directly to an Access database if that is more convenient for you.

I successfully exported an excel workbook from the workspace I was interested in thanks to your advice. I used :

P:\SOFTRAK\GVWIN\GVWin.exe /c /d"P:\DATA" /eDAT /uUSER /pPWD /t<yyyymmdd> /xds /xdd /xdw"path\to\my\workspace.gvs"

I got some questions I didn't find answer in the help :
1) Is-it possible to not open excel (even in the background) and just get the data as a .csv file instead ? I was not lucky changing the extension /e parameter
2) Is the saving directory /d linked to the user /u rights ? Because in my trials, I wasn't able to change the saving location
3) I really like the log file that's been created in the same time. Is-it only compatible when using the /xdw command ?

Have a great day,
Thanks again,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Since this is really becoming more tech support that a general question, could I ask you to identify the Adagio site you are assisting?

Thanks

By site, do you mean the company name using the software ? If so, it's for CRC Research in Vancouver, BC

Hi Alexandre,

Thanks for that. Your client is running 9 year old versions of the software, so it's likely their version of GridView may not support all the features I've mentioned.

You can control whether an XLS or CSV file is created by changing settings in \Softrak\System\SSI2XL.INI. Details can be found in this PDF on our web site.

Sorry, but from this point on you're going to be on your own. This forum is can be read by all, but only clients on a current Upgrades Plan can use it for Technical Support. Perhaps you can encourage your client to make move to current versions of their modules if only so you can continue to receive help here.

Alex:

I have been communicating with our mutual client about upgrading their Adagio to current versions.
