When doing a day end in PurchaseOrders, it asks if you would like to do a back-up. I know you recommend doing a day end in the morning after a complete back-up has been done the night before, but if you select yes, the following files are shown to be getting backed-up:

IR*.DAT; SD*.DAT; AP*.DAT; IC*.DAT; GL*.DAT

I was wondering what happens when there are other users in any of those modules? Are the data files they are using being skipped? The back-up gives no warning.

Basically, if someone had been doing something in payables, inventory, or general ledger and a purchase order back-up has to be restored, has the other user lost what they have done?

Thanks

Hi Mike,

The files in Adagio are all opened to permit shared access to the data. PurchaseOrders will back up the files in the state they are in when the backup gets to the file. It is remotely possible that there may be a synchronization issue between different parts of a database (the batch control to the batch file for example), but pretty much all of the necessary data will be there, and certainly in a form that would be repairable if the worst happened.

If you had to restore, we'd recommend touching base with an Adagio consultant just to make sure that the bits were put back together properly. Usually no one needs to lose data entry that has been done.
