I added a new account, but selected wrong account type. I selected as balance sheet account, it should be income statement accout,so on the trial balance, the net income is not correct. On the balance sheet, Profit for period is not correct. When I changed it, it says:" there is a opening balance or closing balance in prior year or current year, can not change it." How can I change it?
Your help is appreciated!

Typically, this requires a database repair to properly fix. You can use account ranges and enforce these ranges with a setting in the company profile to prevent this from happening in the future.

Your Adagio Consultant might be able to help you too.

Thanks. Would you please tell me how to fix it if it won't take you too much time?

David:
A database repair means someone with specialized tools will be needed to to edit the database directly. If there is an opening balance, they would have to move it and, once that is done (along with related changes), they would change the account to an Income Statement account. Softrak offers this service but your dealer likely does too.

Krista will contact you in the morning to see if we can help you out. Not all of these occurances require a full database repair.

Hi David

You might want to try unposting all activity that was posted to the account, changing the account type, then reposting. This will work if the account is relatively new and you haven't closed any GL years for which activity was posted.

Hopefully there isn't too much activity because it can be quite tedious to unpost batches one by one.

Steve
