I am currently exploring an evaluation copy of Adagio Inventory
and I have few basic questions with regards to entering receipt and
shipment details:

1. Is there a way to move between fields using Enter key instead of Tab?

2. Can I keep the details' window open until all the items are entered so I don't have to open it to enter the next item?

3. I am thinking of scanning the items that are being received/delivered rather than manually encoding them. Is there a another interface designed for scanning entries or we have to use the same form/window?

1. Microsoft dictates how data entry should be done in a windows application. They choose the Tab key over the Enter key.

2. Yes - not sure how it's being closed as it would normally stay open until you clicked the post button or switched to another tab/window.

3. By 'scanning' do you mean using a wand and the UPC code?

1. I don't think it's Microsoft, my other application moves through Enter Key.

2. I am referring to the "Detail" window where you enter the items.

3. Yes, UPC and a barcode scanner.

Thanks!

Hi, Howard,

Perhaps your other application doesn't conform completely to Windows standards. Adagio does and uses the tab key to move forward to the next field (or you can click in any field) and the shift/tab keys to move backward to the previous field.

The Details 'tab' does remain open and the list of each item being received for this receipt displays in the window. However, as each item being entered is different, the information for each item is entered on a separate New Detail window.

You might want to speak with your Adagio dealer about recommending a 3rd party software that integrates with Adagio to meet your particular needs.

Microsoft Access has an option to move to the next field using Enter key (aside from tab and shift/tab, which is a given Windows feature). I just thought that Adagio might have that option too.

In Shipment Transaction, the "New Detail" window closes down when the "Ok" button is clicked, which the user has to in order to add an item. Then the user have to click "New" again to enter the next item. Wouldn't it be more efficient, if the "New Detail" would stay open until all the items are entered or the user close it down.

Thank you for your inputs.

Turn on auto add items under File | Options for the behaviour you're looking for. Also, Adagio can import all transaction from an Excel or CSV file if you want an external program to drive inventory. Most Adagio users have Adagio OrderEntry or Invoices to record their shipments.

If we used the enter key to move from field to field, what key would we use to close the form?

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your response. I found the "Auto insert new items" on Edit->Company Profile->System Options. It is checked. However, the "Edit shipment" window still closes down on every insert of new item. Thanks again.
