We have a client looking at Virtual Vendor as a web-store application to integrate with Adagio. Can anyone provide feedback on their experience with this vendor and application, or any recommendations?

For integration between a webstore and Adagio OrderEntry, Virtual Vendor is the most elegant solution and is well worth the money, although it is not cheap. VV performs as promised and the end result is good.

This is even truer if the website caters to business, not retail, buyers.

I could go on, but only if you want me to.

Ed:

I have a large end user in Langley using Virtual Vendor for B 2 B transactions. My 2 cents worth would echo Steve's comments.

Our company IS the Langley "large end user". As an FYI for anyone thinking of getting into this, our experience has been both good and bad. I guess you could say that about most things!

The bad is that no matter how well you think you are budgeting and planning, things come up that are "surprises." Perhaps this will not be as true for other users, as I feel like we were certainly one of the first Adagio users to work with Virtual Vendor. Keep in mind that everyone "uses" their data bases differently (a big challenge for Softrak I am sure!), so we ran into different "issues" along the way. Each time, Virtual Vendor has been able to find a solution for us, but it does cost us additional funds each time. That can get frustrating, especially when you truly believe you have "covered" it all in the intial planning, which VV was a big part of.

The good part is that our web store is up and running. Lots of our customers really enjoy it, lots of them have to be brought along. Customers can check pricing anytime they wish, pricing is "up to the minute" as we download any changes made at each day end every day.

Overall, my take would be: Worthwhile-Yes. Frustrating along the way-Yes to that too.

Barb; you are not our only large client in Langley on Virtual Vendor.

Though I appreate that your experience was both good and bad, please keep in mind that you had a lot of customization done and/or pushed the boundries of Virtual Vendor considerably. This creates it's own challenges at the best of times for any software you might be implementing.

The client I was referring to had a straight forward requirement, therefore a much smoother implementation.

Sorry, Doug, my error. We were certainly the first though, and I believe because of that have smoothed the way for other companies applications. I do appreciate that we "pushed the boundaries" but we did lay out what we were after in the planning stages with Virtual Vendor. My point was simply that there were (and still are) surprises along the way, some of them costly.
