Have you tried the search on other workstations? We have 1 workstation that sometimes will not find things in a search until it is rebooted.

Hi, Laura,

I'm curious. What module are you referring to? If you would provide the module version(release date) also that could be helpful. You can get this information by selecting Help and About in the main menu of the module you're referring to.

Were they doing a Finder or Smart Finder search for a customer or scrolling through a particular window (current? history?) to locate the customer?

I saw this happen once. I think it was caused by a flaky network card or a hard drive error. Part of the AR records were lost. The only solution was to go back to the last good backup and re-create the activity after that.

Since the records were missing altogether, DIC did not find an error.

Your consultant might be able to help you find the last good backup by looking at file sizes of the Customer index files.

sorry it was on my OE module but it righted itself when i did a data integrity check on the A/R module.....

now i am having problems again with the OE module and shiptoaddresses are missing for customers from H-000 to Z-999...i did a data integrity check but it doesn't bring it back.

i dont know how this data went missing? people won't tell me what they did or didn't do....just i looked now and it is gone.

Really sounds like a hardware problem to me. Records really don't just disappear in Adagio.

Hi Laura

You'll need to ask your hardware person to diagnose that one.

Meanwhile, you'd be best to make backups EVERY DAY, and check data integrity every day as well.

You could try Andrew Bates' trick and write a batch file that will read and write back and forth between the server and a station all night. In the morning you check for errors. Do this one-by-one on all your stations in the hope that one of the stations will have read/write errors and you will have isolated the culprit station.

Hello Laura:

Another approach is to try and narrow the search a little.

First, did anything change just before the problems started? New computer? Old computer showing signs of failure? One computer being used much more than previously? Power problems? UPS problems? Computers moved recently (leading to cable problems)? New user? Changes made to the server? New hub/router? Virus infection?

Next, since both occurences were related to OE and AR data tables, start with the computers that do a lot of work in those 2 modules. Put the AP clerk's computer at the bottom of the list. If possible take one of the suspect computers out of service for several days (though admittedly this isn't always an accurate test with intermittent problems).

If your business is such that you can get everyone out of Adagio at lunch, do a Backup and Data Integrity Check and again at the end of the day. If there is a problem again this will allow you to narrow the time-frame and to restore from backup without losing too much work.
