Hi, I tried to back up the ledger data and complete data in Ledger 9.0. It says "Unable to lock data set exclusively, do you still want to perform backup?". What to do with this warning? What happened?

This is the normal message when another workstation has the data open. You can goto Help|Active Users to see what workstations have the data open.

I checked and found that I am the only current user of ledger. Is that possible for something is wrong with the server?

Hi Jing,

If there are no other users in the data, try exiting Ledger and rebooting your workstation. Then try again with the data backup.

Are you in multiple copies of Ledger, or in any of the other programs such as AR or AP? That would also block the backup.

It could also be the server not releasing a particular data file. If it were this scenario, a reboot of the server would be necessary.

Hi Jing:

Or you could just select "Yes" and proceed. Watch for any error messages during the processing. For instance, if the other user (whoever it may be) has a file locked, you will see a message indicating that the file couldn't be compressed. 95% of the time there will be no error.

Yes. We have both ledger 8.1A and 9.0, what should I do? delete or keep it inactive?

I tried and click Yes. After back up,there's a message saying" back up is incomplete, 72 files not backed up".

Hi, Jing,

You mustn't have been the only user in Adagio Ledger at the time the back up was being performed, or perhaps for some reason your workstation or the server is holding these files open.

If you are the only user in Ledger and do not have more than one copy open, close out of any programs you are running and try rebooting your workstation to see if that releases the files being held open. If this does not work, then you will need to reboot your server.

You must have exclusive use of the data being backed up.
