My users are not permitted to access all reports in the financial reporting system.

The reports have been separated into folders, by department.

I am hoping to protect these folders by a password to read only.

It seems that Adagio has set up a read only file, so I am wondering how to make this additional change of a password upon their attempt to open the file.

Any ideas?

Hello Fullen,

You can restrict users to seeing the statements for a particular department within the financial reporter itself. You do not have to put the statements in separate folders.

Complete details about how to set up user department restrictions are described in the tech tips section of Softrak's web site here.

Let us know if that meets your needs.

Alrighty... I have set up what I can. However, I have one hurdle.

The revenue info of my 100 and 200 department need to be available to the marketing department, but not the expenses... only the expenses of the 600 department are available to them.

So, my report has been created listing revenues in a range, then the 600 expenses have been listed specifically. (-600)

Problem with this is that whenever the report is specific to a department, any other department can read it.

Maybe I am missing something.

Hello Fullen,

I need to see the specific example of what you're trying to do. I can't visualize what's going on. BTW - you do know that if you limit a user to only being able to print financial statements, then they cannot make any changes to the statement "format".

You can send me an e-mail with the data and the specific statement and I may be able to help further. You'll have to hurry though - I head out on vacation for 9 days tomorrow.

It seems that Andrew may have left by now.

Is there a way to password the files? I'm hoping.

Hi, Ann,

As this is really a Technical Support question and should also have a new topic of its own, we have moved your question to the TechForum under the topic of Opportunistic Locking.

Hi, Ann,

I have copied your question back to your original thread as follows:

"I am only trying to password protect the financial report files.

They are in a shared, multi-user system. It seems that Adagio has put its own protections on the files and I would like to add one more so that anyone with permission will use a password."

I think that Andrew really answered this question with respect to the departmental security that Adagio provides.

What you are asking for is really something that would have to be set up using Windows security and perhaps placing reports in specific folders that only particular user(s) have access to. It's something you might want to talk to your network tech about as it is not something that Adagio will do at this time.
