Hi,

How would one reprint a posting journal after it has already been purged?

We had a funky situation here: One person posted a batch that did not belong to them 87 (theirs) 88 (not theirs) and it wrote to Posting Seq. 87 & 88. Then when batch 89 was created and posted, it printed out without any transactions on the journal. Then when you look at the Batch Status for batch 88 it posted to 88 and then for batch 89 it posted to 88. Not sure why it would post to a batch that has already been used.

So we tried to print the posting journal for batch 88 again, but it prompts that the range must be from 89 to 89, which doesn't show anything on it. How would one print posting journal 88 after it has been purged?

Thanks for your help,

Wendy

Hello Wendy,

Posting sequences increment with each posting run. You can post more than one batch at a time. So, someone posted batches 88 and 89 at the same time on the 88th posting sequence.

You cannot print out a posting journal that has been purged, just as you cannot print out a Word document that has been deleted. The only way would be to restore from a backup containing the batches and re-post them.

Make sense?

There is another way to "recreate" a posting journal. It involves using a reporting tool such as Adagio GridView or Crystal Reports for Adagio. It's a bit of work, and although it won't be identical to the original posting journal, it will be similar enough to make you happy.

Let us know if you want the details of how to do this, and which tool you use.

Thanks guys. Where would I find the backup to restore? I'm not seeing something as simple as a "restore" button like I would in the "Invoices" module.

I want to try the Crystal Reports option first, but would love to learn both methods in case this comes up again in the future.

Hi Wendy

Using Crystal Reports, create a Blank Report, and use as the data table TBB65 TD Hist Detail. Create a Selection Formula that prompts for a batch number or batch range (using a parameter field). Sort on Entry number.

This is just the beginning - there is a lot of formatting to do. But if you are not lost reading the above paragraph, it might be worth a try.

GridView would be much easier - use the T/B History Time Detail table.

Adagio doesn't have a "restore from backup" button on purpose - think of what would happen if someone hit it accidentally. The "restore" button in Invoices is not what you think it is - it is more like a "copy" button.
