Hi David,

I suppose you have 2 particular questions:

1) Online orders and integration with Adagio. If you already have an online ordering system and wish to send that information to our Adagio OrderEntry, you can import orders from a file into Adagio. The format of the file needs to be either Comma Separated Values (CSV) or Fixed Length (text) formats. You may include information including alternate billing and shipping addresses, misc charges and specific instructions. Once the order is entered, an order number is automatically generated (would that be enough for a tracking number?).

I would say that this isn't an automatic process but rather a manual importing process. We do have a 3rd party developer Virtual Vendor who has an online ordering system that integrates with Adagio OrderEntry.

2) Online Inventory. Adagio works fine on a Terminal Server or Citrix, meaning you could use either Adagio OrderEntry or Adagio Inventory to look at item information or print reports.

If you were interested in evaluating this further, you could download an evaluation copy of any Adagio program at Adagio Evaluation Software. One of the evaluation limitation is the import function, but you do get the chance of investigating the customizable file import templates.

Hello DDDave,

Is this possible without having to hire a 3rd party integrator and have a lot of custom and expensive software modifications made ???

The short answer is "probably not".

Also, you'd generally want to have someone reviewing orders before they were filled - certainly to make sure that pricing was accurate. A national retailer had a $400 piece of electronic equipment for sale off their web site for $40. They had sold over 500 of them in a couple of hours before the pricing problem was caught.

What accounting solution are you currently using?

The previously mentioned Virtual Vendor can create a B2B solution that includes:

- access for only business customers to whom you supply the passwords
- pricing levels determined from Adagio Receivables
- availability updated as often as you wish from Adagio Inventory
- feed of the orders to Adagio Order Entry as often as you want.

The processes to transfer the data back and forth are manual, but usually would occur when you are ready to process the orders anyway.

Another scenario is provided by Bravo Software. Their solution includes a small ordering program for your customer who then e-amils the order(s) to you as attachments. At your end, the orders are retrieved from the e-mail attachments and placed into order entry. Atachements back to the customer include inentory and pricing updates.

This allows the customer to create orders any time, anywhere, even when the system is not connected to the internet, and then send a daily e-mail to you.

Hello David,

Do you have only a single price for your products? No discounts for quantity purchased or by customer? What accounting system are you currently using?

Our OLEDB connection allows read-only access to the accounting data using and popular programming language. Our SDK allows read-write access to the files, but I would actively discourage anyone from trying to directly create an order. They'd have to completely re-create all the business logic in Adagio OrderEntry. Creating a formatted import file (using any of 6 different layouts) would be a much safer (and faster) approach. It would also allow someone to review an order for "reasonableness" before it was processed.
