Is it possible to increase an item number segment size in the Company Profile?

Yes it is, but you need the Toolkit for Adagio from Dakota Software to do this, for the Item Format changer. And you still are limited to 4 segments and a 16 character maximum width.

Of course make a full backup.
Specific pitfalls would be best left to Dakota or other consultants with knowledge of this particular utility.

Currently you have IC setup for 2 segments using a total of 10 characters. If all you want to do is add 6 characters to the second segment, its fairly straight forward. If your trying to do something else, like add more characters to the first segment or add a third segment, depending upon what you are trying to accomplish it gets more complex. I'd really need to know what your trying to accomplish before I could answer further.

Goal: to increase the length of [segment 2. Part No.] from 9 characters to X characters. X in the case is a value > 9 &&<= Max Size.

You can add more characters to the second segment by adding a ?, for each character to add, to the end of the “New item format” field.
