I am trying to create a report template in Sales Analysis that will show how many different items have sold in a year. Not every item, just 40 or so out of the thousands in inventory. I can only choose one solid range of item numbers for my report, I can't skip around and choose only the ones I need. I thought I might be able to add the "Item Number" field more than once in the report but I can't do that either, I just get a "This field has already been selected" error. Is there a way of only selecting the various item numbers that I need for my report?

Sales Analysis doesn't allow you to pick random item numbers. This could be easily accomplished with GridView reading the Sales Analysis database.

Use the Report Group field in Item Maintenance and assign the items you want to include to the same Report Group. Then select this Report Group when designing the Inquiry in SalesAnalysis.

This assumes you aren't using the field already. There are other fields you could use - category and item description come to mind.

Steve:

Great suggestion, I thought about this but then didn't see the field in Sales Analysis. Looks like I didn't look far enough.

I tried that but apparently all I can do is give the Report Group a name. I can't edit it in any other way.

You assign the report group to the items in inventory by editing the item. You do not add items to the Report Group in editing the Report Group (in case that is causing confusion).

AHA! That is very helpful! OK, coming in on the home stretch: I've added the desired report to the desired items. Good so far. I'm adding that item report group to an Inquiry template along with the "Quantity this y" option and then hitting "View" to see what I get. I get "No records found for date range [1/1/2015, 12/31/2015]". Same thing happens if I switch the date range to YTD. What am I doing wrong?

Unfortunately, I think you've come about as far as you can on this forum. At this point, it's really a matter of looking at the data and the report, which is where your Adagio consultant needs to be consulted.

Include the report group in the fields on the Inquiry and remove the date range to see whether it selects the records you expect.
