I am set up as the administrator - historically I had all rights when we first started with Adagio. When I recently re-activated an unused department, I changed the department name from "1990 - do not use", to "1990 - now active" (for example).
When printing the financial reports as myself, the department still shows "1990 - do not use", and the report prints up with that incorrect heading. If I log in as SYS, the same department shows "1990 - now active", and the report prints with that correct heading. Why? What do I do to get it to pick up the amended department name?

Ledger 9.2A - haven't installed the recent service pack yet. We don't us FX Opening the Financial Reporter through Ledger. ="Department "&TRIM(DEPARTMENT(0))&" "&TRIM(DEPARTMENT(1)) Copied the formula from the statement If I'm logged in as SYS, yes, the drop-down reads correctly. If I'm logged in as myself, no, the drop-down reads the "do not use". If I log in as SYS, run the report (correct name), then exit and log in as myself, the name still does not refresh.

I think that formula was originally created by my consultant.

When logged in as myself, in the Ledger, the department reads "do not use" - show the same way in Financial Reporter.
When logged in as SYS, both the ledger and Financial reporter show department "now active".
I have made no changes to the department name under either myself or SYS.
I've run into this sort of issue a couple of times before where there is a file that simply isn't refreshing. The result in those cases was to re-name a file, and then restart adagio so the file is recreated or refreshed.

As SYS, I've just changed the department name in G/L slightly. Financial Reporter picked it up. When logging in as myself, the change also shows up in Edit Departments. BUT, when I go to the Financial Reporter (as myself), the department tree still picks up "Do Not Use:.

I should also clarify - "1990" is the department number and "now active" would be the department description

I'm just wondering if any Adagio guru has figured this one out yet?

Hello Marc,
I wasn't asking about the specific statement. I was asking whether any custom department ranges or wildcards have been added to the basic list of departments.
You can ZIP the GL and send it to me if you want.

Can you send me an email with some screen shots of what you're seeing? Also, what financial statement you are looking at?

Hello Marc,
Thanks for the data and the screen shots.
You have identified a problem in the financial reporter when there are User Department restrictions and the descriptions of the departments are changed after the restrictions are created. We will fix this in a future release of the financial reporter.
In the interim, since setting up restrictions is not usually a time consuming task, you can force the financial reporter to refresh the department names by deleting (or renaming) the file GLXTREE.ASC from your data directory. When you go into the financial reporter, and re-setup the department restrictions, you'll find the department names working properly.
Before taking this drastic action, you might try editing the department restrictions by making a change, exiting the FR, and then changing the restriction back. This might refresh the department descriptions for you.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Edited by Andrew Bates (03/16/15 03:16 PM) Edit Reason: Added edit suggestion.

Thanks Andrew
Prior to making any change, I set up a new user for myself with full rights, and the department(s) showed up correctly for the new user - I had also changed a 2nd department name to see if it would work.
Editing the department restrictions can only be done as SYS, correct? I edited the rights for my original user profile, and it has worked. I then re-set the department name, re-entered the FR, and the name did NOT change again. At least I know how to trick it for now.
When working in the FR in the past, I've noticed that there are other things (don't ask me specifically what - I don't make changes or work in FR very often) that I just can't do unless I'm logged in as SYS. Is that intentional? I am the only one in our organization with full access to all functions - at least supposedly full access. One that comes to mind is editing the department tree or creating departmental masks.
Thanks Marc

Hello Marc,
Yes - managing department restrictions and masks can only be done as the SYS user in the financial reporter. Otherwise users could change their restrictions or use wildcarding to see other departments.
