When I'm in 'View Account Transactions' I'd like to be able to sort by batch number instead of whatever it's currently doing (which I can't figure out either). Is it possible to sort by different columns?
Thanks!

You can add the batch # to the grid and then export to Excel (the button in available on that screen) where you can sort as you wish.

Hugh:

The default sort order is Period# | Transaction Source (module) | Subledger Trans Type.

There is no option to change the sort order so Ralph's suggestion is the way to go.

Hello Hugh,

The Grid in Adagio does not support sorting by different columns.

Can I ask what you're trying to accomplish? All the batch listings (and posting journals) can be (re)printed at any time during the year from the Batch Status Inquiry screen.

You can also create a Source Journal that lists the transactions in batch number order.

Just trying to get a quick visual of the 'last' transaction(s) in an account.

In this example I had balanced the bank statement to the GL some time ago. Then I noticed that the GL balance had changed since I did the reconciliation and I wanted to identify the transactions that had been posted after I did the rec. When I found it it was the first item on the list for that month. Sorting on Batch would get me close, sorting on posting sequence would be even more precise.

Yes, I could export and sort so it's not like there isn't a workaround, I was just wondering if it was possible.

With respect to Batch Status which I use often, it would be handy if you could search by batch number as well as scrolling through the years transactions.

Create a Source Journal to print out the transactions in the sequence you want.

Adagio Ledger also tracks the date and time a transaction was posted - but you'll have to export the transactions to sort on those fields.

Regarding the Batch status inquiry - are you looking for a "Find" button?

The Source Journal requires you to know in advance what 'flavor' of journal you are looking for (ie. you can't enter a range) so it's not a broad enough search to answer the question 'what changed since the last time I looked'.

Plus it's an extra step. You can export and sort just as quickly and you're not restricted to a type of journal. My query about sorting within the 'view account transactions' was just to have a quick way to look at the account on an 'as assembled' basis. Probably not a big deal!

For batch status inquiry, yes a 'find' button would do the trick... I often know what batch I'm interested in and usually what I'm trying to do is print a listing with the GL summary box ticked so I can quickly see the effect of the batch on an account without having to aggregate the detail.

The Source Journal allows you to define the fields you want to see, and also the range of values you want it to print for. If you define a Journal that includes the fields you are interested in, and say you want it sorted by Batch number, you can enter the range of batch numbers to be included.

If you go to the Batch Status Inquiry and click on the Batch Listing button, the dialog has the highlighted Batch number filled in to print - but you can change the batch number there. No need to scroll down if you know which one you're looking for.

But it indeed may be faster to click the ExcelDirect button and manipulate the data there.

Select the batch in the print window! That works! D'oh!
Thanks!
