Hi All,

We are going through our annual audit and the auditors are unable to audit our payables because our open payables summary report as at our yr end does not agree to the trial balance. We have an AFT(Automatic Funds Transfer) account with an open payables balance of $37,000 and our operating that has a balance of $50,000. However, our trial balance says the balance in account 2000 payables only shows $37,000.

Please help!

Check for journal entries made directly to the control account. They will have a source code beginning "GL" instead of "AP".

How would I do that? I have printed the detail listing in Ledger and it does not agree.

I create a Source Journal called Not-AP with all non-AP source codes, then run it against the Accounts Payable account. It will show all journal entries made to that account.

BTW, check that the two amounts agreed at the previous year end; I have seen errors like this "slip by" for several years until a more thorough auditor spots them.

Hello:
Ralph's suggestion is a good one because it shows how to use the Source Journal report, an under-used feature in Adagio.

Another option would be to click on the "View" button on the main Ledger screen, locate the AP control account, drill down on it, make sure that the source journal is displayed as a column and then export using the ExcelDirect button. One the list is in Excel, use its filtering capabilities to examine the Source Journal column. Note that you must be using a Ledger version released in the past 2 or 3 years to see the ExcelDirect button.
