I forgot to do Period End Maintenance at month end when I did Print/Consolidate GL transactions, etc. I skipped right over my cheat sheet notes. Can I do it now, using the date 1/31/12, with no ill effects? Would I need to retrieve to GL again or consolidate the transactions?

Hi CRR,

Period End in AR and AP don't have any effects in regards to GL. The biggest thing you would lose by running Period End in AR today with a log-in date of Jan 31/2012 are the Month-to-Date statistics that are stored on customers. This may not even be an issue for you if you don't use these customer statistics.

If you care about the statistics, you would either have to restore the AR data from a backup, or edit the month to date statistics with the correct values (this includes importing), after enabling statistics editing from the company profile. Probably entering the new MTD statistics would be easier.

Period End also clears completed transactions to History (only if you do so by Period End), optionally clearing the Batch Status file, optionally purging history, and optionally clearing retainage if you use JobCost, but none of these has any effect on GL.

Please note my question is as regarding Inventory Control. Sorry, the module was named in the title, not in my question.

The answer is that there is an ill effect. Forgetting to run IC period end at the right moment results in any activity dated in the next month's activity showing up in the prior month's statistics.

The easiest way to fix this is using a utility called Toolkit for Adagio, by Dakota Software (www.dakotasoftware.com)

To elaborate on Steve's response, there is no effect on the GL. You do not have to worry about that.

However if you use monthly statistics, such as the "Summary Statistics" report, your numbers will be a little off for both January (overstated) and February (understated).

In short, you should proceed with your Month End. Given that it's February 8, I doubt restoring a backup is practical or worthwhile. However if you rely on the monthly statistics for analysis purposes, then use Steve's suggestion and talk to your Adagio consultant about the Adagio Toolkit which will recalculate the the statistics.

OK, so if I run IC period end now: even if I put in the date of new period end as of 1/31/12, it will still pick up everything as of today and include it in the period I am closing? I am OK with that. My biggest concern is that my costs of sale for the month of Jan, which were printed/consolidated and retrieved into GL on 1/31/12, match with my sales collected through OE also ending on 1/31/12. Will that be compatible?
Thanks, Chris
