Good afternoon,

We are deploying a new server, migrating from Windows to a Linux install with samba. Assuming all the perms are set correctly, would the process of migrating be:

1. Copy current share directory to new share directory.
2. Remap current share on each work station to the new share.

Or, after remapping to the new share, should I run allwkst.exe on all workstations.

Thank you,

SG.

Sorry, we have no facility to provide any advice about installing Adagio on a Linux server. Perhaps another partner familiar with this environment can assist.

Thanks Andrew,

Prior to the post I was reviewing the following post:

http://www.softrak.com/ubbthreads/ubbthr...=true#Post13822

the setup.exe /LINUX led me to believe it was supported.

Thanks for the update.

"/LINUX" just deals with a single issue brought to our attention by a Partner who installs in that environment. It has to do with file permissions (I think) which Linux treat differently than Windows.

Thanks Andrew. Let me repose the question:

We are deploying a new server, migrating from Windows 2003 server to a Windows 2008 server. Since Adagio was installed on a common share from the Windows 2003 server which is accessible by the accounting department, would the process involve:

1. Copy current share directory to new share directory.
2. Remap current share on each work station to the new share.

Or, after remapping to the new share, should I run allwkst.exe on all workstations.

Thank you,

SG.

If the mapped drive letter is the same from the workstation's "View", then that is all that will be required, assuming that SMB and OpLocks settings are correct. Your Adagio consultant is in the best position to assist you in deciding the correct settings for your particular environment.

Have a look in the Adagio data folder at the contents of ADSPROF.xxx where xxx is your data selector.

You will see 2 entries similar to

Currency=\\server-name\volume-name\Softrak\System
Task=\\server-name\volume-name\Softrak\System

or

Currency=G:\Softrak\System
Task=G:\Softrak\System

Where G: is mapped to \\server-name\volume-name\

If the entries are like G: then mapping on the local machine to the new G is all that is needed.

if the entries are of the form \\server-name\volume-name\ then it is best to comment out the 2 lines with a leading ; and you will be asked for a new path on the next entry into Adagio.

It is vital that all Adagio workstations have FULL rights to any folders they access.

Your Linux admin will need to check the rights after all installs and upgrades. Sometimes they get reset with upgrades. We have been using linux on our small system for almost 4 years and the only issues have been getting the rights set correctly.

I seem to save time using individual module workstation installs as opposed to the allwkst.exe.
