Wondering if there is a way to have our item number left justified, them searching for an item by giving it the first few characters of the item number will help with this process. The same for the description but it doesn't appear to do this. As we are having a hard time searching for items takes long time

The Item code appears right-justified because, when your inventory module was first set up, the Item code structure was defined as having 1 segment. Item structures can consist of several segments (i.e. XX-XXXXXXX-XX). When there are 2 or more segments, the Item code is left-justified.

To see the current setup you can look at the Company Profile for the Inventory module (then see the "System Options" tab). The problem is that you can't change the structure once it has been created.

However there is a module available from Dakota Software that will allow you to do that. See: Dakota Software products. You should ask your Adagio consultant about this. Some users create a dummy segment at the end in order to get the left-justification that they want.

As for the performance looking up by description:
-How many inventory items do you have?
-What version the Inventory module are you using? Look at Help | About [ie. Inventory 8.1B (090714)]
-What is a typical time required for a search?
