Hello Laura,

Where were you using 3 decimal places in ACCPAC? Standard Accpac Plus only supported 2 decimal places in pricing and costng. There was an add-on (Increased Decimal Places) that allowed more decimal places in Accpac Plus.

Adagio supports up to 6 decimal places in selling price, but only 2 decimal places (pennies) in costing. You need to use alternate units of measure for the increased precision.

we had Misys for inventory costing...now we use IC,
how do you use alternate units of measure for increased precision.

is that like if you normal keep track in feet and want the cost more precise, use 10ft????? not sure how i would do that.

thanks

Hi Laura,

Actually, it works the other way. If you want more precision than using "feet" as the stocking unit, then you use "1/10 feet" as your stocking units. Remember that the stocking unit does not have to be the same as your selling or pricing units.

how do you get them to change...every time we change stocking unit all the units for the item change ie: selling or pricing units?

Hi Laura,

Before you change any of the units of measure on the Master Item or an Alternate Price List Item, you first need to define the units of measure conversion factors.

If you allow Fractional Quantities for your items, then your conversion factors may also use decimals or be less than one (ie 0.25 or 1.55). If you do not allow Fractional Quantities, then the conversion factors must be whole numbers and cannot be less than one (ie 12 or 100).

Once your conversion factors are defined for an item, you can change the stocking, pricing or costing units as required. Indeed if you change the default stocking unit, you may want to re-adjust the default pricing or costing units - all three units don't have to be the same. The Stocking unit is used when doing inquiries or reports on an item. The Pricing unit is a default when selling the item. The Costing unit is a default when receiving the item.

To expand on Andrew's answer with greater precision on the selling unit price, you need to create an Alternate Price List item in order to set the number of decimals of the unit price (up to 6). This cannot be done on the Master item.

Hi Laura

I would strongly suggest not changing an item's stocking unit of measure while there are non-zero quantities and costs, either on-hand, on sales order or on purchase order. First adjust these down to zero (if necessary by deleting the sales order or purchase order) and then after making the change, re-add the quantities.

Found this while looking for a particular problem I am having -- so replying instead of starting a new thread.

We recently upgraded (finally) to OE 8.1B, and find we can no longer use Alt Price Lists to set costs of items to the 1/10th or 1/100th of a cent.

Rounding Method is set for "No Rounding" but when we try to enter (for example) a base price of 2.046, we get 2.05.

Is there an option that did not transfer over from our previous version that needs to be set for the "No Rounding" to work and for us to be able to set base prices to the third or fourth decimal point?

Thanks!

Hi Brus,

There is no problem, but just a field that needs editing. What you need to do is set the number of decimals on the 'Unit/Pricing' tab to what you require - 3 instead of 2. This can be set on an item by item basis as desired. Once this is done, you will see the amount fields formatted to 3 decimals instead of 2.

Doh! If it was a snake, it would have bitten me.

Yep, found it, used it, works perfectly. Thanks!
