Hi

I was trying to install Adagio AR, AP AND GL on a stand alone workstation where it would not be linked to the Server Installation we currently have.

When I start any of the modules, the continue, register, license, cancel window comes up. According to the Customer Support Rep at Softrak if the information entered in the REGISTER window was entered incorrectly on the first try I will have to uninstall and reinstall. Is this correct?

I wish I could just reset this window so that I can enter the info as it was in the Server installation.

Thanks
Yann

Hi, Yann,

Yes, you'll have to do exactly as Customer Service has indicated.

Customer Service has granted you special permission to install this way. Unfortunately, it seems the registration information wasn't entered correctly. The way to fix this is to uninstall and reinstall and enter the information in the manner Customer Service explained to you.

I have removed (uninstalled) AR, AP and GL.
I have then re-installed AR but the same information is still in the BOX. Is there a registry Edit that would fix this?

I have even deleted the folder under program files but that did not work.

Please help.

Hi, Yann,

Uninstall, remove the entire Softrak folder on the standalone workstation, reinstall. Then re-enter the registration information the way Customer Support explained.

This should do it.

This is exactly what I did earlier.
Any other suggestions?

Thanks
Yann

Hi, Yann,

Sorry, no. If you've uninstalled, removed the Softrak folder and reinstalled, then entered your registration information in exactly as Customer Service explained you should, it will work.

This may be an opportunity to give your Adagio consultant a call.

Thanks for the help but without stepping over any boundaries, I don't understand how you cannot help me out with this.

Why do I have a to pay a consultant to install a piece of software. This is windows... a 5 year old should be able to install it.

Thanks
Yann

Ok, I decided to install the AR on a different computer since we could not resolve the issue with the first one.

Now, I cannot logon. THe sign ON failed.
I get an error Caution: signon failed.

Any reason for this?

I'm sorry for all the questions and the request for help on your part but Andrew Bates suggested that I do this and I don't think it should ever be as hard as it is.

When security hinders usability there is a problem. Like I stated in my last post, I should not require to pay someone to install a piece of software. I can understand that a non technical user would but as the IT manager for our company, I find it very frustrating.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Did you try the Help button on the Logon screen?

On a new install the default User/Password is SYS/SYS

WOW! Thank you very Much.
I wish someone from Softrack would have pointed this out before I started.

Thank you.

Hi Yann

I don't work for Softrak, so don't blame them for this comment.

Displaying an attitude and making snarky comments on a free tech support forum is not a good way to get good service. You are lucky Michael (who works for Softrak) helped you.

Your last comment should not have contained the line "I wish someone from Softrak would have pointed this out before I started", even though you may have thought it.

Steve

I do not work for Softrak either and I find it interesting your comment "as the IT manager for our company, I find it very frustrating." I am sure that Softrak finds it very fustrating also when they follow the Windows standard, have Help Icons available, uses the F1 convention, lengthly help documentation and online manual and people do not use them. They must ask what else can we do?
As a IT manager, I am sure you are aware of how Windows some times do not uninstall things properly and because of this, there is more and more of a need to have consultants to come in and install software. There is no way to know what has happened went wrong with your computer over the phone or over an email.

Adagio does install very easy normally!
