I entered numerous tax rate changes in Order Entry after month end last night, effective 4/1. Will these new rates be applied to orders entered prior to 4/1, but not invoiced until 4/1 or after? How do I handle this?
Thanks all!

The tax rates that are used are the ones in effect when invoicing, not when entering, an order. Tax rates are not date sensitive, so the system doesn't care what the actual invoice date is.

Thanks for your reply. Just to verify your response, I invoiced an order today that was input in March. The system DID NOT CHARGE the new tax rate. All other invoices I did on 4/1 came out with the new tax rate. ???

If you enter 'quantity shipped on orders' with the original order, then tax is calculated in the background but not actually charged until you invoice. If all you did to invoice that March order was to edit it and post it as an invoice, then I don't believe tax would get automatically recalculated in this case.

If you don't put quantity shipped on orders, then everything that Steve wrote applies.

You may have to temporarily change an order to force a recalculation of tax. This could be as simple as changing the customer tax status to something else and then changing it back (you don't have to save anythng between the changes). If you have any other outstanding orders entered prior to the tax rate change, try this and see if you get different results.

We do put quantity shipped on orders as we do equipment repairs and it takes it out of stock. I did the tax status change as you suggested and that updated the tax.

Thanks so much.
