Does anyone know how to do a receipt return. I have a recei[t return showing both the quantity and value in the negative. There is also a receipt for the same product on the same receipt with positive values and quantities.

When we look at the receipt what we see is the net result of the receipt and the receipt return. It is when we look in the audit receipt list report and the transaction history for the item that we see the receipt return.

We are not sure how this happened and would appreciate any assistance on this.

If would help if you let us know what module(s) and versions of same you are referring to and where you are seeing this information you are concerned about.

If you are referring to doing a "Return" in Purchase Orders for Adagio then the function is called 'Inv/Adjusr/Rtns'. Select this function and then the 'Return' option.

I can't really tell you any more without further information.

The version is Adagio Inventory 8.0B. We do not use purchase orders.

We are looking at the transaction history.

If you edit a posted Receipt in Adagio Inventory and reduce the quantity of an item, this constitutes a return. Perhaps a receipt was posted and later on realized a particular item should not have been there, so the change was made and posted.

I am puzzled. I tried editing a receipt and I got the message that "completed receipts could not be modified". How then is it possible to edit a receipt after it is posted. I have full administrative rights and I could not do it.

It only works if you have not previously "completed" the receipt. That's an option that appears when you enter a receipt.

I hope you realize that the receipt/return function in Inventory is rudimentary. If you want full-blown functionality, you need one of the Adagio PO modules, such as Purchase Orders for Adagio (www.stiefgroup.com) or PO Tracker by IMS (www.islandmicro.com).

Understand. The other question is this how would I enter a credit for an item that was previously received, the receipt completed and was later realised to be incorrect. We returned it and wish now to show the redudction in quantity and cost.

You can use the Adjustments function in IC to reduce or increase quantity or cost.

You'll need to post the adjustment before it will take affect.

I edited a incomplete receipt where the quantity was previously received as 250 when it should have been 226. I selected the item and changed the 250 to 226 and then posted it. What I am seeing is that a Rec return is shown in the positive and has increased the inventory by 226. I was under the impression that if you edited a receipt and chose a lower number the receipt return would be shown as a negative.

If you edit an Active receipt (not yet completed) and reduce the existing quantity of an item, this indeed posts a return on the receipt. The Receipt Audit List should show a negative quantity.

Where are you looking to see a positive amount? If it is the new Transaction History inquiry function, perhaps you are using an older version - there were a couple of transaction types that incorrectly displayed positive instead of negative, though everything posted correctly (including to the GL). These have since been fixed.

If you view the Items with Sales and Costs, do you see the correct inventory here?
