Since my company has two currency: us dollar and canadian dollar, every month end i need write entires in G/L to exchange USD to CAD to make F/S shown as CAD monetary unit. Recently we have many different expense items are USD amount, i have to write entries to adjust this every month. So i wonder whether Adagio has advaned function to exchange the currency automatially without writing entries, or there is the function in G/L I do not know?

Hi Fanny,

There is an optional program Adagio MultiCurrency that allows you to enter source currency amounts in batch entry, and automatically calculate the home amount based on stored exchange rates. This can interface with Adagio programs with versions 8.0A or higher.

You might want to discuss this with your Adagio consultant as the MultiCurrency program does have it's complexities that should be understood before going down this route, especially as once you enable it, it is extremelt difficult to disable it and go back to the way it is now.

Have you considered installing and using Adagio's multi-currency module? It automates all the currency calculations for you, but it does require slightly more data entry with every transaction.

Otherwise, you can make a single adjusting journal entry in Ledger, or perhaps more simply, just multiply the amounts in the financial statement by an appropriate exchange rate to get the Canadian dollar amount (not entirely accurate, but the difference is not likely to be material). You can see an example of this by looking at the sample specification "GL!Currency Conversion examples.SAM" in the sample data.

You should check with your Adagio Consultant Reseller for the best method of handling your particular requirements.
