Hi Jenny,

Bar code scanning systems are highly tailored to a business and usually require a fair degree of customization. There is a full warehouse management system from RF Pathways that integrates with Adagio. Including the hardware and setup, your budget should be $25,000 or more (I think), but you should contact your reseller and RF pathways for a better idea.

"Bar code scanning" means many different things to different people. You have to have a clear idea of what you want to do. Here are some questions that need answering:
  • Are you reading bar codes on receipt of inventory, when it is being shipped, or both?
  • Are you assigning the bar codes, or will you be using UPC codes?
  • UPC codes include the unit of measure. How will this be dealt with?
  • Will you be wanding orders as they are shipped? Will they be picked before they are brought to the station to be wanded?
  • If you want the same item three times, must the quantity count be bumped, or three line items on the invoice?
  • ...and I'm sure there are lots more!

I'm sure others will contribute their thoughts, but it's a complex subject requiring some very specialized knowledge. If your budget does not run to $20,000+, then I doubt there's much point is looking much farther. It's ALWAYS more complicated than just plugging in a scanner.
