Hi All,

I'm wondering what triggers the most recent cost being updated in IC.

Currently in POs (8.0) we have the in the Company Profile run time variables screen the "Update IC most recent cost" with "Net Item Cost". The PO manual tells me that IC will be updated as soon as a PO is entered for the part, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

It looks like IC is getting updated with the most recent cost adjustment amount.

Please help me understand the flow a little better!

I did a little more experimenting, and the most recent cost in IC is updated with the most recent receipt or cost adjustment amount. Is there a way that it will update with a most recent PO, reciept, or adjustment amount?

Hi, Cam,

IC is updated in real time when the PO is posted to the extent that the Qty on PO is updated, and the Update 2nd Cost To field from the Runtime Variables 1 is also updated.

When the Receipt is posted, IC MRC and both Qty on Hand (inc'd) and Qty on PO (decr'd) are updated. This is when the cost of the item(s) becomes more of a reality. Some items on POs are never received and, therefore, shouldn't be affecting IC costing at all which is the way it is now.

However, remember that, if on your Runtime Variables 1 you have Update Cost 2 set to, say Cost 1 or Cost 2, when you post the PO itself, this field will be updated with the cost from the purchase order when it is posted. You could track the information this way.

I've done some experimenting with this and have been able to get the cost from the PO to go to Cost 2.

What I'm having trouble with is if I change the PO. When I did the initial PO, the unit cost came over fine, but if I change the cost on the PO and repost, IC is not reupdating - any ideas?

I have it updating with Net Item Cost and am using IC 8.1A

It will update when you do the receipt.

The PO will update the recent cost in IC if the recent cost is blank or $0.00, say in the case of a new item created. Otherwise the cost gets updated as reported above.
The reasoning behind updating the recent cost when the PO is created (if recent cost is zero) is so that you could ship, invoice, and do the EOD processing in OE before the item is actually receipted in PO's, which in previous releases did not update the recent cost, which resulted in a zero cost and also required the PO End of Day to be run before OE End of Day. This now gives you flexibility to run your EOD's in either sequence.
