Retrieve batches from GL??

Can Adagio BankRec retrieve batches from Adagio GL?

I am doing bankrec retroactively on Adagio BankRec, which was done manually on Excel Spreadsheet some time ago.

I believe the controller posted GL on GL as he did bankrec, but could I retrieve those GL entries to BackRec module?

Kate:
Sorry, the data flow is from the subledgers to the General Ledger, never from GL to the subledgers. If the volume is large, you could export from GL, format a file and import into Bank Reconciliation. However if the volume is low, more manual methods would probably be better.

Hi Kate,
We often run into this situation you are describing when we are converting clients to Adagio BankRec, and need to retro the GL transactions back into BankRec. As Bruce has suggested, all subledgers feed up to the GL.

However, you can export the the bank transactions in the General Ledger (Bank Account) into Excel from one of the many views or export functions, and then import those same booked banking transactions back into Bank Rec. We do it all the time. More people would be converted and using BankRec if they knew this conversion technique was available.

Adagio has incredible flexibility to create import file templates (in all modules) that match to your import file layout. We normally use CSV as the file format as we won't have to worry about the control characters within different versions of Excel.

You import as a batch into BankRec and when you post the batch, be sure to retrieve it immediately into the GL, and subsequently delete the retrieved BR batch, so that you do not duplicate the already posted transactions in the GL.

Talk to your Adagio consultants. They should be able to help you, or call us. 800-540-3164. We are often in Toronto area.

Best,
Brian
