Financial Reporter won't Export to Excel

So today I go to do something I've done a million times before which is export a drilled down list from the financial reporter to Excel. Button is there and there's the animation of it pressing when you click it, but nothing happens. I can export to excel within the GL, but not within the financial reporter... any ideas out there?

Also the help files can't be opened. it just says Failed to Launch Help.

Yes, the Help failing to launch is a problem and has been reported to R&D. For now, if you drill down to the c:\Softrak\Ledger folder on your workstation and locate the LedgerFinRep.chm file, you can double click on it to run it.

With respect to your ExcelDirect problem, may I ask how you are logging into Ledger and the FR? Are you RDPing, connected to the server via a LAN or running standalone?

Server via LAN.
I assume the financial reporter is baked into the GL? It's not something that has it's own updates?

Financial Reporter is a separate EXE.

Yes, it's a separate exe and, depending on what version(release date) of Ledger you are using, determines the file being used for the FR.

It's possible but no guarantee that something went awry in your install of the product if, for example, you recently installed an update to Ledger.

Please run the FR and select Help | About from the menu. There should be a number of items listed on the System Info tab. I'm interested in knowing the Path/Name and Version for at least ...LedgerFinRep.exe and, as you didn't say earlier what version(release date) of Ledger you are running, I'd like to know that also along with the ssi2xl being used.

I've tested this using the current shipping version of Ledger9.3A(190720) and FR 2.1.8.2653 which uses LedgerFinRep64.exe. The ExcelDirect from multiple places in the FR is working for me when I run Ledger over a LAN from the server.

What has changed on your system between when the function last worked for you and now? Is there someone else in your office that can run the FR and see if the ExcelDirect works for them from their computer?

My Ledger is the version you mentioned 9.3A(190720) however my Financial Reporter is FR 2.1.8.2645 not 2653.

Maybe you could let me know how to get the latest version of Financial Reporter?

As to the change, what happened was I went for lunch. It was working when I left and locked my office and when I came back from lunch it didn't work.

Sorry, Hugh, my error. Seems I wrote down the numbers I was seeing elsewhere rather than the 2645 which I'd wanted to. You have the correct FR version numbers. However, it's still possible that you aren't running the correct file or a supporting file or that it's missing.

Specifically, what is the full Path/Name and Version of the ssi2xl listed on that System Info tab? What is the full Path/Name and Version of the LedgerFinRep listed on the tab?

Originally, I suspected that an issue was encountered during an install but, based on what you're saying about the issue working before lunch but not after, that would only be possible if someone had installed the Ledger SP over your lunch hour.

It could be that an antivirus update has mistakenly quarantined a necessary FR file. While I haven't had anything reported elsewhere, it's possible. You'd need to check the quarantine and also your antivirus exclusions to ensure that all things

My IT manager has now resolved the problem which was an incorrect registry entry.
He worked with the document below to find the source of the excel direct launch instructions and did a copy/paste to get the correct information in the registry (all beyond my pay grade)

The reason the registry entry was corrupt is another matter, but unless it happens again I don't see doing any more work on that piece of the puzzle.

It's interesting to me that Ledger worked and the FR didn't with Excel but ... we're all happy to know you're up and running again. Glad your IT has it under control.

I'm guessing that the code that launched from the GL that was working was what he copied into the FR registry?
