AR Import not picking up values in spec fields

AR Import not picking up values in spec fields - 12/30/14 08:10 AM

Receivables 9.1A (131105)
I am doing an AR import (using an Excel file) to update the spec fields on the Invoicing tab of Customers.
(E.g. Invoice & Cr Note Print spec & Email spec fields)

Problem is, that it is not working properly.
I do not receive any error messages, but the fields simply do not get updated.
Even worse, if I had a value in the field before the import, the field is now blank.

Have you tried exporting the fields and checking what is being sent? It's possible that the short file name is being stored in the file and is what you need to import. Certainly, it is the long spec description stored within the specification itself which is displayed in the drop down. That's not what you need to import.

Hello Andrew.
The short answer is: Yes.

I did a number of things.
I initially had long file names, and things were not working.
So, I renamed them so that each file name is either 7 or 8 characters.
As well, I entered the values into the first customer, and then I exported the field values.
In Excel, I simply copied the values to all the rows.
But when I import the file, the fields remain blank, and the first customer that originally had values, now appears blank in these fields.

It just is not working for me.

Try the process with the sample data, and if that doesn't work, ZIP up the data and the spreadsheet you are trying to import and send it to me.

I gave it a shot with Sample Data, and it did work.
So, I next used the Sample Data spreadsheet with a small selection of the company data, and gave it another shot with the live data.
This time around I got the import going!
Not sure what I did incorrectly earlier. I am reviewing the spreadsheet, but nothing stands out.
Nonetheless, we are always pleased when things work properly.
Thanks for your input, Andrew.
