E-MAil Setup for A/R Statements & Invoices - 04/21/11 12:08 PM
I am trying to setup the e-mail in A/R and I exported all the relevant information is there for the entire customer database. I made the changes to the first client exported the proper fields and went through the information. There are some fields that have come up with specifications that I can't find and am wondering where they are so I can chcek them and prepare them to be used. These fields are
Inv. OE inv. email spec -------> OE0B1C~1
Inv. OE cn. email spec -------> OE$NBT~1
Inv. OE inv. print spec
Inv. OE cn. print spec
some of the customer database has filled the specifications with those noted above.
Where are these "specifications" found ???

Ricardo:
Those are short versions of the full specification name. You can create an Invoice with a very long name (i.e. "OE$Invoice for All USA Customers except Texas"). But Adagio isn't going to store that full length name. It has a field 8 characters long and stores a shortened version of the name. Having longer fields would slow performance.
It takes the first 6 characters of the name and adds "~1" to the end (the name above would become "OE$INV~1"). If there were another file with the same 6 leading characters, it gets "~2" on the end. This is the same technique that DOS used to use (and maybe still does) to name files with more than 8 characters.
So you should look for a file that starts with "OE$NBT". The other one looks odd since it doesn't have a $ sign in the name. Adagio recognizes OE specification files because they have a $ sign in the 3rd position.

Why are you exporting all the fields to "setup e-mail"?
If you are trying to load your customer's e-mail addresses, then just create an export template with Customer code, name and e-mail and then use an identical template to import that information back into the database.
Certainly the stored specification names (or most of the other fields) aren't required for the task you describe.

Thanks,
I didn't export all the fields just the ones that I thought related to the E-mail fields. I didn't mean all the fields, sorry. I will import all the fields that I know and leave the others for me to figure out later.
Thanks
