Creating and Editing Statement Group Print Permiss - 05/22/08 12:01 PM
I've noticed lately that I can only edit or create the statement group prints if I login as SYS. I thought I used to be able to do it with my own Full Access login. Do I need to change my access rights, or is it restricted only to the SYS login?

Hi Barb,
Indeed in previous versions, any user was able to edit the statement groups. This has been removed in more recent versions so that only SYS can edit the group. You aren't imagining things.
This was done to tighten security of the Departmental Restriction function, as it was possible to use Statement Groups to get access to departments that shouldn't have had access.

We don't use any departmental restrictions, nor do I see that anywhere. But I don't think we have any use for it either. I guess that means it won't change and you can't give the same rights as SYS to any other user (not all of course).

You are correct. It doesn't matter that departmental restrictions aren't in use, nor the security group settings - this was a straight program change with no options.
Perhaps it was too blunt, but we had some requests from other clients to make the department security as tight as possible.
