Ledger V9 Conversion

Ledger V9 Conversion - 05/07/08 11:29 AM

Am I the last to convert to V9? I've actually tried several times, but when I get to the part that says g/l data is not compatible, I click yes to convert the data, then yes I've made a data backup, but then it doesn't go any further. I get an error message, but I can't see what it is because it's behind the box that says Converting to Adagio Ledger 9.0. On the left of the box behind the Converting to.. one all I can read is "Con", and on the right the only words I can read are "data file". Does anyone know what this is? I'm supposed to be on the Adagio 9 webinar in 30 minutes, so this is late to ask, but if anyone has a suggestion please send. Thanks.

Grab the window by the border and move it out of the way. BTW, have you installed the latest service pack?

My guess is that a previous conversion failed, and the data was not properly restored by deleting some of the 9.0A files. Now the conversion is complaining that those files are in the directory and that they shouldn't be.

Come to the webinar anyway - you don't need Ledger 9.0A running to learn something new.

I had tried to move the front box and it wouldn't move, but now I see that you can just move the back box. Duh!

This is the same error message that happened the first (and other) times that I tried to convert the data, and there wouldn't have been any V9 files at that time. The error message says "Conversion failed to complete. Error occurred when checking existence of the GL fiscal years data file". My data integrity check has no errors.

I got a lot of info from the webinar, and hope to begin using V9 soon.

I installed the update, plus the most recent service pack, 080402.

Hello EMB,

A previous conversion was cancelled and the data was not properly restored. ZIP up your data and send it to me and I'll get rid of the files that are causing the problem.

Okay. How do I send it to you so it just goes to your email, not a public post?

What were the name of the files that have to be deleted when this error occurs during the conversion?

Hi, Lars,

I don't recall off-hand the list of files that Andrew originally found in the data you sent. The files might be different from one dataset to another, depending on at what point the original conversion was interrupted.

I'll email you a list of GL8.x to GL9.0 files and you'll have to do a file by file compare for each case.

For others reading this thread, the new Fiscal Calendar data files are GLFISC'I and GLFISC'R. The older file is GLDATE'I.

If you want to convert Ledger data to 90A and there are GLFISC data files, this would cause the reported error in the earlier post.

Depending on when a conversion was halted, there may be additional GL90A files created that would have to be cleaned up.

And if someone does attempt to do a data conversion and it halts partway through - and you want to restore the data and try again - ensure that you first remove all of the GL data so that no partially converted files are left behind.
