GridView - Unable to Access from a Prgm shortcut - 07/03/07 11:05 AM

GridView (ver 8.0D/060914).

We have ran across a problem with Gridview. When the clients (2Gridview installs to-date) attempt to open the program from a shortcut on the desktop or program folder - they are unable to make changes to any of the GrdViews (Edit - Definition, Filters, Calculated Colums + other options are grayed out). However, if the user opens GrdView while in another module, they have complete access. We've checked to ensure the program path and datapath were correct, as well as ensure the Windows permissions were correct. All seems well there!.

It almost appears as if the user does not have any rights to make changes to the view.

When I attempt to access GView from my program shortcuts, ver 8.0E, 061017), I'm unable to duplicate. My co-worker however on the same version as I also experienced the same problem as the client - about two weeks ago. He insists he just left it alone. He's now able to open the view from the program icon and edit as I'm able to???

Has anyone ran across this??

Hello PwC,

The problem that you have run into is really a security feature. No one can Edit or Create a new View unless they have been set up to Edit GridView.

If you view the User records, you will probably see that the Users have the option ?Edit Gridview? selected.

I suggest that you take a closer look at the Readme, Getting Started section.
