"Access violation" when we click Excel Direct

"Access violation" when we click Excel Direct - 01/05/24 08:09 AM

Client is running many workstations in a Client/Server site.
All workstations are Win 10 Pro.
For years, Excel Direct button works properly on all workstations.

Now we have one workstation that generates an “Access violation…” error box every time we click the Excel Direct button.
Only happens on this computer.
Also, is not restricted to one module.

Any suggestions?

Excel has been re install? Possibly upgraded.

Hi Samuel:

Was this computer restarted? Sometimes Excel is running in the background.

The computer has been restarted, same issue.
My contact tells me that all the other workstations in their office are running Excel V.2016. This computer is running V.2019.
(I would have thought the newer version should not be giving us headaches.)

Also, this does not get fixed if we run as SYS user.

I also sent this issue to Tech Support at Softrak.
Dhanush tells me that: We couldn’t be able to duplicate this issue, since this is an environment related issue.

So, the workaround at this point is that the user has another workstation in the office if he needs to perform an Excel Direct, but it is annoying.

If this computer is new, O365 might be running the cloud version instead of being installed on the computer.
Was the excel direct button working before?

Samuel:

I recall a similar issue sometime ago when an Excel update caused the Excel direct button to fail. Then on the next update, it just was just fixed automatically. Check if that computer requires Office updates.
