Extended Characters Override - 12/29/23 11:07 AM

Hi all,
Many of our large customers with distribution solutions have integration with 3PL and various warehouse solutions and with shipping with our Ship2Link shipping integration solution. This requires importing names and ship to address details to shipping destinations such as Quebec or Mexico or South America or Europe that have a need for extended character sets enabled to import order details into Adagio Order Entry. Otherwise, the accents for some names and address details will fail on the import files.

However, some of the 3rd party integration solutions and shipping solutions cannot handle extended character sets with all of the special accents and would prefer to have the extended characters stripped off when we send the details from Adagio for fulfillment or shipping of orders.

Does anyone know a way to strip off the extended character sets to allow the import of sales order to work? Or a program that strips off the extended character sets when exporting out order details?

It's not that we are attempting to discriminate against language distinctions or accents but rather attempting to clean up the process of shipping that doesn't always care about accents, as long as the shipment labels and shipments arrive at the proper destination.

We're looking for a practical resolution.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian. I don't know much about extended character sets et al but an excel power query might do the trick for removing/replacing characters you don't want. I've used this for cleaning weird characters out of transaction exports from Quickbooks and it worked very well.
